Located on more than 12 hectares of land with over half a kilometer of white sandy beach, Sugar Beach Resort is adjacent to La Pirogue on the leeward West coast of Mauritius. Access to the facilities of La Pirogue is within walking distance. The resort is also well situated near the commercial centres of Port Louis and Curepipe as well as the Marlin Fishing Clubs of Black River. The authentic colonial architecture comprising 16 villas - each containing 10 rooms - the Manor House and central reception buildings, are spread out over the beautifully landscaped tropical gardens.

83 rooms are furnished with two queen-size beds, which are ideal for families of up to four persons. 20 pairs of interconnecting rooms are also available. There is 24-hour room service.

All rooms open onto a private patio or balcony furnished with cane furniture. Beach villas are near the shore and offer uninterrupted views of the lagoon and setting sun.

Mon Plaisir Restaurant
(seats 420 plus outdoor dining terrace for 200 people)
Breakfast – 7.30 to 10.30 a.m. Full English & continental breakfast buffet. Lunch – 12.30 to 3 p.m. À la carte menu and speciality lunches. Elegant “table d’hôte” dinners or speciality theme buffets are served daily between 7 and 10 p.m. There is an open-cooking buffet and a teppanyaki chef.

Citronella’s Café (seats 120)
Light snacks are served at this oceanside restaurant at lunchtime, while the finest Mediterranean cuisine is prepared at dinner time. This elegant establishment is built in harmony with the colonial style of the resort. Open for lunch from 12.30 to 3 p.m. and for dinner from 7.30 to 10 p.m. Closed for dinner on Sundays and for lunch on Mondays.

Paul & Virginie Restaurant (seats 120)
Located on the beach at La Pirogue next door, with romantic thatched dining pavilions overhanging the ‘infinity’ pool against the dramatic backdrop of the Le Morne mountain across the sea, the rustic charm of the ”à-la carte” Paul et Virginie restaurant favours warmth and intimacy. At lunchtime, from 12.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. daily, it proposes a selection of popular island cuisine, wood-fired pizzas, grilled, smoked or steamed fare, tossed salads and sandwiches.

Its dinner offering, from 7.30 to 10 p.m., Monday to Saturday, is more sophisticated, with a focus on seafood and healthy stir-fries, and features select items like scallops, oysters, mussels, giant prawns and lobster, around the restaurant’s signature multi-choice concept (smoked to order, grilled or steamed). The wine list includes a variety of South African and New World wines, with a focus on great value for money.

Dress code
Long trousers for gentlemen are requested for the evenings.

Beach Service
A golf-cart proposes refreshments from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and a choice of pizzas ( Sugar Beach, Country etc.) or
excellent Parisian baguette sandwiches (with smoked marlin, tuna, salami or ham) served under guests’ thatch-parasols. Daily beach service from 10.30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

BARS

The Plantation Bar (seats 100)
Open daily from 10.30 a.m. until late, The Plantation Bar offers pool side refreshments, light snacks, copious salads, wood-firebaked pizzas, or sandwiches, speciality cocktails & evening entertainment. The Plantation Bar is also the place for traditional five-o’clock tea, with its cakes, pancakes and selection of the finest English teas.

La Rhumerie (seats 25)
Open nightly from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m., this is a quiet venue for aperitifs, after-dinner rums, cognacs, liqueurs and cigars.

Sugar Club Bar (seats 25)
This bar specialises in fresh juices, soft drinks, coffees and teas, although it also serves ice-cold beers. Open daily from 10.30 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Sports, leisure & entertainment

There is a live band every evening for dancing and there is a variety of cabaret shows presented several times a week. Jazz Night with the Sugar Jazz Band once a week.

FOR CHILDREN

Fun Kids Club
Fun Kids Club is free for all children from 2 - 11 years and provides world class benefits including exciting, ultra cool and imaginative daily fun programmes, age-appropriate activities, facilities and amenities, twelve hours a day. Members have the opportunity to enjoy golf, tennis, windsurfing and swimming clinics as well as environmental excursions with a focus on educational enrichment throughout their stay. Dinner time provides a special event every evening for kids, with a selection of menus, buffets and barbeques to be enjoyed under the supervision of specially trained hostesses. Babysitters - available at an extra charge - are required for children of 2 & 3 years.

Teens Club
The Teens Club offers free membership for 12 - 17 years-old who can enjoy sports events, excursions, outings and evenings specially designed for teenagers.

PRIVILEGE CARD
On arrival at the resort, each guest is handed a Privilege Card, which entitles him or her to certain sports free of charge (see hereafter) and to other specific advantages including reductions on certain activities, on excursions and on car rental, discounts at various shops at the resort and around the island and, finally, resort and meal interchanges at La Pirogue and Le Coco Beach (Privilege Card’s offers subject to conditions).

The unique Sugar Club offers a health and fitness centre with a fully equipped air-conditionned gym with the latest Cybex machines (free access), supervised by professional instructors (tailor-made programmes available with supplement), in addition to a hairdressing salon and beauty centre which provides cosmetic and facial treatments as well as a full range of rejuvenating body treatments and therapeutic massages for men and women (with supplement). The well established and versatile conference centre (294m2) is equipped with the most modern technology. Between 220 and 350 people can be accommodated in either one large hall or three smaller rooms. An ideal working environment in an exceptional setting.
